Stereo
to 5.1 Extrapolation
In 2003, surround sound is no longer a feature - it
is a necessity.
Consumers
of capable media such as DVD or SACD expect surround
sound on the releases they purchase. The absence of
multichannel sound will be a huge disappointment for
anyone who has invested a considerable amount of time
and money in installing a 5.1 home cinema system.
However,
often budgets don't allow for an expensive surround
mix or there simply are not multitrack tapes or post
production backups available.
24-96
Mastering can offer you a fast and effective solution
to this problem:
Stereo to 5.1 extrapolation.
The process of 'surroundifying' stereo sound isn't
just adding reverb to the rear speakers, neither is
it a black box one-click procedure. We use specialised
equipment to extract original ambience and other carefully
selected components from the stereo source and apply
processing to generate a convincing surround environment.
Adding new information such as early reflections and
true surround reverb can help to create a rich and
spacious sound stage but is entirely optional. With
stereo to 5.1 extrapolation, we
can create a very real soundscape that greatly enhances
the value of your product.
We
understand that there is some scepticism towards this
seemingly 'magic' technique. However, most of the
sceptics are basing their opinions on the quality
of cheap, off-the-shelf surround processors found
in HIFI and home cinema amplifiers and have never
(knowingly) heard what an experienced mastering engineer
working with state-of-the-art specialised equipment
can do.
The
results we can achieve with our advanced methods and
our individual approach are stunning. But don't just
take it from us, let your ears be your judge and ask
us for a demonstration.
